In May, we delivered a horizontal wood shaving machine to a client in South Africa. The client specializes in processing pet bedding and requires finer, softer wood shavings for use in pet enclosures and small animal bedding.
The exported unit is a spiral-type wood shaver machine capable of continuous, uniform cutting; it produces shavings with finer fibers and a softer texture, making them ideal for applications where high comfort standards for bedding are required.
Customer requirements
The South African client primarily serves the pet supplies market, producing bedding for small animals such as hamsters, rabbits, and guinea pigs. When previously using standard wood shaving equipment, the client encountered the following issues:
- Coarse wood shavings: Feel hard to the touch after spreading, affecting pet comfort.
- High proportion of long fibers: Hinders subsequent packaging and even spreading.
- Inconsistent product quality: Significant variations in appearance and density between batches.
After consultation, the client ultimately selected our horizontal wood shaving machine. The roller of this wood shaving machine have a spiral structure, which produces softer and more uniform wood shavings.
